My journey to wellness

This started my holistic journey to wellness and I made many changes in my life. It was on this journey that I discovered the wonderful healing therapy of Reiki.

“I cant quite remember when the moment was but I woke up one day and decided that   not only could I get better,  but that I would get better. I  just had to find out how."

Hi, I’m Jody and first I would like to welcome you to my website Relaxing Moments.

In my travels I have never met anyone who doesn't appreciate moments to unwind and relax however sparse they seem to be. At a very basic level I can help you to totally relax, restoring a feeling of calm, balance and tranquility that will last long after your therapy has finished.

At a higher level, through the established complimentary therapy of Reiki healing and/or Indian head massage I can help alleviate a whole range of symptoms both physical and emotional.

You can find more detail about these in my Treatments section.

“We are shaped by our thoughts; we become what we think. When the mind is pure, joy follows like a shadow that never leaves.”

This is my story and journey to Reiki. Please take a moment to read it, because when you do you will know that whatever your troubles symptoms or stresses, I am able to help.

Some 13 years on I am my own practitioner not just spreading the word of complimentary holistic therapies but passionately helping others in doing so. Reiki has dramatically improved my life and continues to bring relief to all sorts of people in all walks of life. Reiki works, and can radically improve and help with so many conditions. It is not a miracle treatment, it is a naturally occurring external electromagnetic energy which when channelled correctly can initiate a healing response, either on a physical, emotional or spiritual level.

Reiki  is not an alternative to conventional medicines it is a complimentary therapy. Medical science continues to make outstanding breakthroughs yet there remains so much we simply do not know. Reiki has become a recognised complimentary therapy and is now widely recognised and supported by the NHS and local GP’s throughout the UK.  I am more than proud to be a Reiki practitioner, I  get a personal sense of  fulfilment when I continue to hear how I have been able to play a small but significant part in helping others.

From my own experiences I have a deep understanding and empathy with others. I look forward very much  to meeting with you in person and being able to help even if all you require is a Relaxing Moment.

Please feel free to email me at with any questions or concerns you may have or call me on 07887 565 616. Alternatively send me a message from my contact page or simply book on line.

Every Reiki teacher or practitioner can trace their Reiki lineage back to the Mikao Usui.

Mikao Usui was the originator of what we today call Reiki. He was born on the 15th August 1865 in the village of ‘Taniai-mura’ in the Yamagata district of Gifu prefecture Kyoto.

Tranquil Sunset

“May I start by saying I am in excellent health and I am enjoying a happy  and fulfilling life. But that wasn’t always the case.”

I was happily employed as a busy I.T. Helpdesk Manager  for a large corporate organisation when suddenly within a very short period of time back in 2001 three unforeseen events entered my life and rocked my world.

My 13 year relationship with my partner ended  which resulted in me having  to move from my beautiful home back to my parents.

Then the company where I worked for 14 years announced they were closing the UK based IT department  which resulted in the loss of my employment. Understandably I felt extremely low and overwhelmed.

Within a few months of these two major setbacks I became ill and was admitted to hospital in a very serious condition. I was unable to eat or drink without being violently sick, I had severe visual disturbances which in turn affected my ability to walk as did the partial loss of sensation in my legs.

After a week of extensive tests by the doctors and an MRI scan at William Harvey Hospital I was  diagnosed with MS (Multiple Scelrosis) a degenerative condition of the nervous system.  In the space of only a few short months I  felt that my world had ended.
